Meet Author Dr. Maureen Tong as she presents her book ‘Pour Into Your Soul’ on Thursday, 7th April from 14h to 15h GMT+1, during the April session of Africa HR Forum – HR Author Series, hosted by the Government of Equatorial Guinea and ICUBEFARM, in collaboration with the African HR Confederation

The 4th session of the HR Author Series will feature HR author, Dr. Maureen Tong, who will present her book ‘Pour Into Your Soul: Let Your Cup Overflow’ – a hands-on introduction to professional coaching. This book emphasizes the importance of continuously reenergizing, refreshing and reinvigorating ourselves to enable to continue to be impactful individuals undertaking many different roles. The book also introduces the audience to professional coaching, what it is about and how it could be effectively used by individuals and organizations to develop and achieve goals for effectiveness.
Dr Tong is an International Lawyer, executive coach, trainer and published author. She holds a PhD in International Law from the Universite de Strasbourg in France. Her research interests include political self-determination, human rights, reparations. Land reform, gender and development. She serves on the Council of the University of KwaZulu-Natal from August 2020 to July 2024. She also serves on the Board of Legal Aid South Africa from April 2021 to February 2026. She is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) of the International Coach Federation (ICF). She is the former Deputy Company Secretary of Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (COMENSA). She is the CEO of CoachCompanion South Africa. Dr Tong is the Past President of the Pretoria Chapter of the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa (PSASA). She lectures on Leadership; Emotional, Social and Cultural Intelligence; Talent Management; Diversity & Inclusion; as well as Change Management at Wits Business School (WBS). She has coached and trained government officials and executives from a number of companies such as AkzoNobel; IKEA, Daimler Chrysler; Mercedes Benz South Africa; Giesecke and Devrient; JCDecaux; Eskom Pension and Provident Fund; etc. Dr Tong established the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute (TMALI) and was Project Manager for the Thabo Mbeki Presidential Library (TMPL). She was Deputy Director of the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria. A former government official, she served as Operations Manager at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She first was the first COO at the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform and later, the Chief of Staff at the Ministry for Agriculture and Land Affairs; She served as the Special Advisor to the Presidential Advisory Panel on Land Reform and Agriculture in South Africa from December 2019 – May 2020.
The Africa HR Forum HR Author Series presents authors of published HR works that cater to the Pan-African market, who share knowledge from their publications with the aim of providing practical applicable knowledge on a broad range of topics. The HR Author Series holds on the first Thursday of every month from 14h to 15h GMT+1 and provides an opportunity for professionals, actors and stakeholders to meet and exchange with authors of published HR books.
