Promoting workforce empowerment through relevant and impactful exchanges during Africa HR Forum events in the month of July

Africa HR Forum – the Pan-African platform that promotes the empowerment of Africa’s workforce continues on its path to vitalize the continent’s HR landscape and facilitate knowledge-sharing amongst professionals through its recurring webinars: the HR Author Series and the HR Insights Series.
The HR Author Series, which is held on the first Thursday of every month from 14h to 15h GMT+1, highlights Authors of published HR books who cater to the African market and presents an opportunity for professionals to meet and exchange with the authors who provide insights into their books, for incorporation into daily local contexts. The HR Insights Series is held on the third Friday of every month and for which French/English interpretation is provided, features an experienced business leader, manager, etc. who discusses a contemporary HR trend or challenge and exchanges with the virtual Pan-African audience.
During this month on Thursday 7th July, the HR Author Series featured HR Author, Dr. Jeskinus Ziwenge, Head of Human Capital Management in NMB Bank Limited Zimbabwe, who presented and discussed excerpts from his book titled “Enhancing Leadership Performance through Soft Skills”. Dr. Ziwenge discussed the importance of building leadership soft skills that will enhance managerial leadership performance in various sectors while providing case study findings that were undertaken in Zimbabwe’s Banking Sector. During the Question & Answer segment, Dr. Ziwenge shared applicable tips, which the participants were keen to take on board for integration into their personal contexts.
This enriching session was followed by the July HR Insights Series, which was held on Friday, 15th July from 14h to 15h GMT+1, and was hosted by the Institute of People Management Zimbabwe. The Speakers were Ruka Nyoka, Group & Country Head, Human Capital & Learning of ABC Holdings Zimbabwe and Darlington Hukuimwe, HR and Communications Director at LaFarge Holcim Zimbabwe. The panel was moderated by Yeukai Gatsi, HR Manager at Toyota Zimbabwe. The topic discussed was “Strategies for accelerating culture transformation post Covid lockdowns amidst other global shocks”. Both speakers drew from their rich experience to provide the audience with an understanding of how to leverage innovation to drive culture transformation during and following time of crisis and subsequently exchanged with participants. Closing remarks were provided by the President of IPMZ, Mr. Cleopas Chiketa.
The August session of the HR Author Series will feature HR Author, Edward Chisi, Human Resource Executive at Zimbabwe Leaf Tobacco who will present his book “The secrets of success in the world of work” while the HR Insights Series will be hosted by the Charted Professionals in Human Resources YC & Bukon, Canada, and led by Sheh Shojaee, Director of Operations and Strategic HR. Sheh will present projections on what lies ahead in HR and the world of work, based on CPHR’s in-depth research studies.
